October 'Mini' Recital!

In an effort to give my students a performing opportunity* this Fall, I have decided to hold a "Mini-Recital." This event will be for STUDENTS ONLY. Sorry parents! This will be like an informal Master Class. All my students will meet together for an hour and perform for one another as they also practice specific listening skills. Treats and some theory games will also be involved. ;)

Here are the details:

Date: Friday, October 30th
Time: 4 - 5 p.m.
Place: My house!

Please note that we will still hold regularly scheduled lessons this week. This "Mini Recital" will be in addition to regularly scheduled lessons. For those of you who missed a lesson due to my sickness, you can use this event to replace the missed lesson, if you wish. That is completely your choice, however.

I am looking forward to seeing all my students at this fun event!

*Some of you may know that I was planning to schedule a performance opportunity for the students at a local nursing home. I thought that could be a great service and performing opportunity, and was excited about this idea. However, I have been working on it for weeks, and cannot find a nursing home that is interested, or who will even call me back. Bummer! If any of you have any connections to local nursing homes, let me know, as I think this is still a good idea worth pursuing in the future!

July Piano Workshops

With July coming to a close, I would love to hear your feedback on how YOU felt about our month of Piano Workshops! I hope your students enjoyed our workshops as much as I did! I personally loved holding these workshops with your students, but they were also a ton of extra time and work. I can see pros and cons to doing this annually, but I definitely felt that this particular summer was a success. I know that they all went home with some useful information that we will continue to use and refer to during lessons for months and years to come.

Will you please take a moment right now, and complete this short survey about the July piano workshops? This will give you the opportunity to tell me exactly how you feel this month went from a parent's and student's perspective. The survey only has five questions and should only take a few minutes to complete:

Also, just a friendly reminder that every student went home with some 'challenges' or material to work on while they having a break from regular lessons. Every student has some assigned songs to be practicing, and then they received a special assignment from both the rhythm and note reading workshops that can also keep them busy. So even though July was meant to be a little more laid back, be sure to keep progressing and don't forget about piano practice altogether!

AUGUST: I am taking the first week of August off to spend more time with my family. Regular private piano lessons will resume August 10! I am needing to make some changes to my piano schedule to better fit my family's needs. I will contact each of you the first week of August to discuss your schedule as I create a new one for the fall. We will begin our new school schedule for piano on August 10.

Thank you for all you do!

SPRING BREAK PIANO LESSONS

Spring break is coming up on April 6-10.

During spring break, I am going to hold small group lessons IN PLACE OF regularly scheduled piano lessons.  Here are some details about the group lessons:
  • Each group will meet for an hour of learning and fun!
  • About 4 students will come together at a time, grouped by skill level and age.
  • Each student will perform their recital piece that they are learning for the other students, as a mini recital practice.
  • Students will also participate in learning activities and theory review games. We will focus on musical concepts for each level, do some rhythm practice, and note review.
The cost of this lesson will be the same as for a regular lesson.

I have assigned the students into groups, based on their skill level and ages. However, there is some flexibility. PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP IF YOUR STUDENT NEEDS TO SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT GROUP DAY/TIME.

If in the unfortunate event your student cannot attend ANY of these group lessons, you are still responsible to pay for this week. I will not be doing make up lessons for students who cannot come to a group lesson.

Here are the groups as I have assigned them. Again, please let me know ASAP if you would like to switch to a different group day/time, and we will work it out if possible.
